Well gang, there are only going to be a few more spoilers for Doomtown. We've got a pretty nice one to show you. Horse decks have always felt like they were missing something, and maybe they still are, but Horse Wranglin' never quite felt like it was truly helping horse themed decks that much. One of the biggest problems of the archetype has always been that they don't really have shootout actions unless the come from the dudes in the shootout. If those were Morgan dudes, those abilities were probably expensive, too.
Calling the Cavalry finally gives you a shootout action that can quickly change the tide of battle. It affects Hand Ranks during resolution, but it can be played as one of your first shootout actions to make sure you get your headline in first. Each horse you have in the shootout will give you +1 hand rank for that round of the shootout. One or two horses can keep you from being beat badly by a Five of a Kind. Several more horses could spell certain doom for your opponent. Because of how early this card plays in the shootout, it does telegraph your intentions. Your opponent could focus on trying to kick out your horses before it gets to hand ranks, or they might just try to leave if they know they can't win. If you muster enough horses into a shootout, you might just be able to guarantee hand rank 10 or more when you're only revealing a two pair. Calling the Cavalry gives both players the hand rank bonus, so be careful when facing another horse deck, but really, how often does that happen?

I'm not sure what to say. I've been writing about this game for nearly its entire lifespan. I was able to buy the premium collectors edition at Gencon. I've scrubbed out in two years of Gencon events and won a Sheriff badge (almost a second!). I've met a ton of new friends that I couldn't possibly list here. I was made aware that there are plenty of people out there that enjoyed my spoiler collections and strategy articles. You guys kept me going. There was a point where I didn't feel like writing that much. It didn't feel like I was getting any reward for it. Going to Gencon last year proved me wrong. Meeting several people that knew me by name before I even knew them was an interesting experience.
I'm not sure what direction this site will take. I just recently got access to spoilers, and now I will only have a few left to show when those sets come. There are already rabid players looking to find a way to continue the game in some form or fashion. If I'm lucky, I will be able to be part of it. I will continue to support the collectors list all the way to the end. Please, support the artists, writers, and all the other talent connected to this game wherever they go. I've met a solid group of people with a real passion for games and the stories they tell. Let them know you appreciate them! The Cackler Jokers will be available in the backerkit for the Cackler Kickstarter, even if you didn't back the original project. They are $10 a pair before shipping. If you want your hands on these, I would suggest getting them now. There is no promise that they will be available later.
It looks like the Cackler jokers are getting closer to making themselves public. The original Kickstarter project is here. I've heard mumblings that you can get the jokers even if you didn't back the project during its original run. Disappointing for those that already spent the money specifically for the limited jokers, but good for those that missed the opportunity earlier!
We've got our spoiler for A Grand Entrance, and it's a new ranch! Check it out here!
I promise, it isn't planned like this. It seems most of the official spoiler outlets decided today was the day to spoil! I hope you enjoy them, and when I get back from work, I can start reviewing all the cards spoiled so far from the various sources.
We had a spoiler for The Curtain Rises, but they were shipped earlier than anticipated. Instead we have a bit of strategy to go with what was supposed to be our spoiler, Experienced Tyxarglenak!
Someone Else's Problem is the answer to so many struggles that decks with location jobs run into. Nothing like having a significant part of your deck shut down because there is a dude with a Legendary Holster that can kill anyone you bring along. Thanks to Someone Else's Problem, you can keep him out of your shootout. He can't join the posse and he can't be affected by the job. That means Kung Fu dudes can't show up later and you can exclude a player's obvious choice for Election Day Slaughter if you want to. Essence of Armitage is another Mystical item to fuel Ambrose Douglas along with the abomination theme. It can only attach to abominations and gives all dudes that aren't abominations -1 bullets in a shootout. It also has the chance to earn a control point whenever a dude flees the shootout. Since it is on value with several cards that can support it, expect to see the Essence paired with Nightmare at Noon or Foreboding Glance. There are a few dudes that like Mystical goods at K, I hear. AEG spoiled the Rites of the Smoking Mirror and Gomorra Gazette got the chance to spoil a perfect gadget for The Arsenal.
First of all, the Rites of the Smoking Mirror is a Mystical Goods that has an ability similar to the General Store, but specific to other Mystical Goods. Ace the Rites and you'll get to play a Mystical item at -4 cost. The goods do start in play booted that turn, but there are plenty of Mystical goods already in the game that don't need to be unbooted to be useful. Dudes like Samson could find the Rites useful until you find a more appropriate Mystical item for him. The Scientizer has a chance to open a few windows for The Arsenal. At value and difficulty 3, the gadget can be invented by several Law Dogs scientists while still be able to play down to value 2. That means you can use the Arsenal to call out a dude, shoot them with your holster, and then Make the Smart Choice to go home. If they refuse your first call out? No problem! The Scientizer can then be discarded to call them out at home! As usual, someone in the world has their copy of Doomtown a little earlier than the rest of us. check out the imgur links here. Hopefully, I can have a full set review next week on release.
