We were originally supposed to spoil the beautiful beast that our favorite little goblin has become. Thanks to a few shipping and release changes, most players already know what's inside the upcoming saddlebag, The Curtain Rises, and some already have it in hand. Instead, we will take the opportunity to discuss a few strategies for our buddy, who looks a little more like a Deathclaw these days.
Tyx is a big boy these days thanks to a little transformation that you can read about here. His trait makes him a monster with a mystical goods as long as he's unbooted when it matters. Most of the melee weapons in the game suffer from the same loss of bullet bonus when a 'ranged' weapon is in the same shootout. Thankfully, most of the melee weapons are also mystical and would still be able to grant Tyx his +2, even if you don't get the full bonus from weapon itself.
This version of Tyx finds some solid support in the Q and K values. Q has a few mystical goods like the Soul Cage and the new Rites of the Smoking Mirror. Thanks to MIssed!, Tyx can be frequently unbooted in order to take advantage of his trait that protects your other dudes from shootout actions. Keep in mind, that his trait protects your other dudes, but it also means that he is the first to be sent home with Wendy, hit in the face with Kung Fu, or shot with a Legendary Holster.
If you manage to keep him unbooted and all of his bullets, K value cards have another layer of support for Tyx. Evanor could make him an 8 stud monster. Essence of Armitage takes bullets away from anything that isn't an abomination in the shootout, and Point Blank is pretty much a given if you're going to have all those bullets. Foreboding Glance can even give Tyx a few control elements with those control points the Essence of Armitage can earn for him. He's also on value with his ringmaster, Ivor. You'll have to kill Tyx more than once in most games.
